Château-du-Loir is a village of Sarthe department, in Pays de la Loire region. The town, with 5,000 inhabitants, spreads over 16,000 hectares in the Vallee du Loir and is the economic centre of Southeast Sarthe.

L’église Saint Guingalois, whose Gothic chancel dates from the 13th-14th century, was built on a 9th century crypt. On the other hand, its stain glass windows are from the 19th century.
The only vestige of the castle is the part of a tower which, during the Revolution, was used as a prison.
“Le Musée Ferroviaire” exhibits a railway site from the 1950s as well as a restored swing bridge.

“Marmite Sarthoise”, a recipe created by an association from Sarthe, is a combination of local products: Loué chicken, rabbit, ham, mushrooms, cabbage and carrots as well as Jasnières, local white wine.
