Paris 1st district is located in the heart of the city, on the north shore of the Seine River, and includes the western part of the Ile de la Cite. There are four districts :

History
The first arrondissement has been the central scene of important events throughout French History, linked to the Monarchy and the French Revolution, as well as the arrival of great intellectual figures of the Age of Enlightenment (Moliere, Diderot, Rousseau…). This is one of the oldest arrondissements in Paris.
Famous places
Place Vendôme
With its original architecture and column, the Place Vendôme is one of the most famous places in Paris and the chicest. It was built during Louis XIV’s reign and now houses the most important Parisian jewelers and haute couture creators. (Metro station: Tuileries or Madeleine)
Louvre Museum
One of the world’s largest museums, it is housed in a historic monument from the late 12th century. (Metro station: Palais Royal-Musee du Louvre)
Palais Royal
An important building in history of the French Monarchy, it is now the headquarters of political institutions.

Jardin des Tuileries (Tuileries Gardens)
Located in front of the Louvre Museum, it reaches as far as the end of the Place de la Concorde which is the end of the Champs Elysees Avenue. (Metro station: Tuileries or Concorde)
Châtelet Les Halles
The Forum des Halles is the biggest underground shopping centre in Europe. The arcade offers all types of shops, as well as leisure activities like cinemas, restaurants, museums, or clubs. (Metro station: Châtelet Les Halles)
Orangerie Museum
Located in the Tuileries Gardens, the museum displays impressionist paintings from great artists such as Claude Monet or Paul Guillaume. (Metro station: Concorde)
Church Saint-Eustache
One of the largest churches in Paris, Saint-Eustache has a rich history, dating back as far as 1200 with the building of the chapel Sainte-Agnes. (Metro station : Châtelet Les Halles or Etienne Marcel)

This arrondissement is the least populated of Paris, it has 17.889 inhabitants which represents 0.8% of the Parisian population. The majority of its inhabitants are aged between 20 and 59.

Ryanair flies from Shannon, Dublin and Glasgow to Paris.
By rail: Eurostar go from London to Paris in just 2h35.
By car: You can travel by car to Paris by taking the ferries which go from Dover to Calais and then you can take the Motorway to Paris.
You can also cross the channel with the Eurostar and stop at Calais. Then you will travel on the motorway directly to Paris.
