Lavit de Lomagne is a little town situated in rural Occitanie region, in the department of the Tarn-et-Garonne. It is a traditional pretty town which manages to combine a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere with the provision of all amenities. The village of Lavit used to be the main commercial centre of the area in the Middle Ages as it was located in a very ancient crossroads. This village was already rich in the Gallo-Roman period. In the 12th century the Viscounts of Lomagne lived there and commanded the building of the castle, one of the most important castles of Lomagne. It was demolished during the French Revolution but later replaced with the town hall in 1840. The ancient Halle made of wood was replaced by an Eiffel Tower style metallic hall in 1894. At that time this fact was quite revolutionary, but now this halle is completely integrated in the village and is the real witness of a historic period. There is a weekly market on Friday in the covered centre selling seasonal local produce, and for lovers of fine food there are some excellent local restaurants to enjoy as well. Toulouse International airport is just 55 minutes away, serving various airlines: British Airways, Easyjet, Flybe and BMI baby. If you prefer, you can take the Eurostar to Paris or Lille and change to reach Toulouse (76 km).
