Do you like playing golf?
In France there are more than 600 golf courses scattered in all the beautiful regions of the country offering a large choice to golfers.
The 4 regions where there are the greatest number of golf links are:
– l’Aquitaine (8%) with for instance, the Moliets golf. In 2005 the Moliets course was voted the best golf links in Aquitaine. The beautiful course offers 9 or 18 holes. It is located at the heart of a pine forest and offers other facilities such as: tennis courts, a video games room, a weights room and conference rooms.
– Provence-Alpes-Cotes d’Azure (10%), with the Saint Endreol golf located just 30 minutes from Cannes and Saint- Tropez in Provence. Like the majority of courses, the Saint Endreol golf offers a choice between 9 or 18 holes. This is a lovely place to go on holiday thanks to its spa, its cafes, and restaurants where you will be able to taste the delicious food of Provence. – Rhone-Alpes (12%) and one of its famous courses, the Gouverneur Golf. This beautiful golf course offers players a bucolic landscape with ducks, swans, storks….And like other golf links, it has several restaurants, hotels, and conference rooms.
– L’Ile de France (14%) with for example the Saint-Cloud Golf which has two 18-hole courses. In this golf club the word “tradition” is very important. It also offers 3 tennis courts, a weights room, a TV room, a junior club and many others services.
But there are also wonderful golf links in other regions, like the Pont Royal golf in the Bouches du Rhone, or the Fabregues golf in Langedoc- Roussillon.
France offers all sorts of golf links: There are courses with 9, 18, 27, 36 or even 45 holes. About 60%of them are private clubs, and approximately 40% of them are open to the public. But a golf links is much more than a simple place to practise sport. In fact, thanks to the important number of facilities offered in those golf links, they are wonderful places to take a break and relax. So before choosing where you want to go golfing, you should also decide what other activities and and facilities you’re after : good restaurants, a swimming pool, tennis courts, spa and treatment rooms, good hotels…
