Benodet is a famous Brittany seaside resort located in Finistère between Loctudy and Fouesnant. Benodet is located 8km to Fouesnant, 16km to Quimper, 18km to Loctudy, 67km to Lorient and 86km to Brest. The nearest airport is Brest with direct lines to the UK. Moreover, there are some shuttles from the UK and Ireland to Roscoff (116km to Benodet).
Activities
Benodet is full of activities with 4 sandy beaches (Trez, Coq, Letty and St Gilles Beach). You can do pedalo, kayak, windsurfing board, sailing dinghy, catamaran, beach hut and kid clubs. You can also do cruises to visit Glenan archipelago and Odet River, walk from the Anse de Penfarl to Lelly lagoon, hiking in the GR34, biking, go to the seaside casino, do Odet golf course and visit the Francois Garrec cookie factory.
This seaside resort is well-known for its thalassatherapy centre and has also a lot of festivals, especially about sea and boat races. The first Week-end of May, Odet Yacht Club organises the Obelix Trophy, a sailing boat race for 4 days. In St Jean, at the end of May, there is the Port festival with concerts and a firework. The last week-end of June there is the Rendez-vous Belle Plaisance with a regatta and at the beginning of August there is the Odet River Regatta. Benodet is a lively town with all over the summer, the “Ete en Fete 2 festival with famous artist’s concerts every Friday night on the ledge. Each Thursday during summer there is a petanque tournament and at the end of August, there is a tennis competition with a €4000 price for the winner. The local market takes place every Monday on Place Meneyer. Benodet is also famous for Tri Martolod brasserie which received several gold awards for its beers.
In Benodet there are some monuments to visit like the Menhirs, St Thomas Becket Church (13th century), Notre Dame de la Mer Church and Perguet Chapel devoted to Sainte Brigitte (Irish). This chapel is listed as a historical monument and dated back from 11th century. Furthermore, there are 2 typical beacons to visit in Benodet: Pyramide and Coq.
Food and drinks
