A reality TV show in the abandoned village of Courbefy?
Out of the numerous ideas, this one is certainly the most extravagant regarding the future of the abandoned village located in Haute-Vienne, France. he is “delighted” by the flood of potential purchasers.
Courbefy has its chance to become a true “success story”, as the French like to say. This hamlet, which has been uninhabited since 2008, was put up for auction a few weeks ago for €330,000 (£275,000). At that time, no one made any offer. However, thanks to the large promotion through the local, national and then international media, investors from all over the world are now showing a great interest for the little village.
For the time being, four investors have stepped forward: The AHAE Press Inc. based in New York – which sent at the last minute a €33,000 deposit, an organization fighting against rare diseases, a mysterious investor from Hong Kong, and a Dutch TV channel.
The Dutch channel said it would like to set its future reality TV show in Courbefy, which aim would be to make the candidates rebuild the whole village. The mayor reacted with enthusiasm to the offer: “The village will be like new at the end of the TV show! We agree with the project…” he said.
And this week, the CNN is going to broadcast a report on the French village, which should bring even more attention to Courbefy from across the Atlantic. All good news, according to the mayor. Next step will be May 21st, day of the second auction. To be continued…
