There is lots of culture to soak up in nearby art galleries and hilltop caves with ancient paintings. Be sure to make the most of the local delicacies- one of the favourites is foie gras on toast with a glass of chilled sweet Monbazillac! Walnuts, truffles and prunes are also specialities of the region.

The weekly market is outstanding and is even said to be one of the very best of its kind in the whole of France. The local countryside is excellent for the simple pleasures afforded by so called “green tourism” such as walking, cycling and horse-riding. The Cathedrale St Front is a must see in nearby Périgueux and the art gallery in Perigord is a great way to spend an afternoon.
Food and drink
One of the main reasons that people love France is the cuisine, and here in the Dordogne (generally referred to as The Perigord) is one of France’s top gastronomic regions. Foie Gras is a speciality of the region, with its rich buttery taste, it is best eaten with toast or a slab of bread, and a glass of chilled sweet Monbazillac. Hearty dishes are created using the finest ingredients involving duck, goose, walnuts, truffles and prunes.
