Mastering the landscape to improve your house’s valuation

You can, for example, start by beautifying your assets such as the pool if you have one.

The POOL:

Once the pool is built, there aren’t many ways to improve it as it is not practical to change the shape of it. Nonetheless, you can improve the decoration of the elements around the swimming pool.

For instance, you can pave around the pool and you can use natural stones or opt for exotic woods, which  will add some originality and charm. Putting new features in such as shower nearby could be very practical.

Illuminating your pool is a very trendy practice nowadays, which is good for security, but it can also provide a cosy and pleasant mood enhancer which will impress all your guests.

Putting some exotic plants around the pool could be a good idea if you want to decorate it, however make sure they are not too close to the pool.

If you want to add some fun, slides, artificial waterfalls and diving features might delight the children.

A good variety of vegetation is also very important for the garden; the beauty of a landscape comes from the mix of various species. Therefore if you have acres of grass without others elements, planting trees and flowers might enhance the look of your garden.

TREES:

Planting some trees definitely adds some charm. However, there isn’t much interest on planting banal looking trees. Original ones will help your house to gain value and it will also give much more character. Nevertheless, if you decide to plant some, try to plant an adequate quantity: you have to find the appropriate number between “not enough” and “too much”.

TERRACE:

If you don’t have enough space available, you should consider creating a terrace. It can add a relaxing atmosphere and it is really pleasant in summer.

Certainly one of the best combinations to raise your house value would be to combine terrace and pool together. This mix has been well known for years and you will see plenty of gardens like it in the South of France. It’s definitely a particularly appreciated asset.

LAKE AND PONDS:

If you are lucky enough to have one, you should maintain it in a good condition. Small lakes can offer various activities from fishing to sailing. The animals it might attract such as fish, ducks and various birds will add a great focal point to your garden.

Moreover, looking after a pond or a lake doesn’t require much effort compared to a pool for example. This unique asset could well transform your house from a banal seeming house to a charming one if it is alongside a pretty lake.
